Foul Balls got off to a good start in the Fall tourament on September 29th. They came in as the 6 seed and were able to handle Beers in a bit of a sloppy game on the big field. That led to a matchup with the 3 seed Mortgage Exchange. Foul Balls took advantage of Mortgage Exchange declining to pick up subs and starting the game with only 8 players as they scored 7 runs in the first inning. Mortgage Exchange had the bats going, but playing on the small field and some great defense in the outfield from Foul Balls resulted in a wire to wire victory.
The tournament continues on October 6th with one game against Life Church at 8:20 on the big field. The tournament is then scheduled to wrap up on October 13th. |

Foul Balls wrapped up their 2022 regular season with games on September 15th against Misfits and September 22nd against Beers.
Both Ben Caruso and Rich Brown were unavailable on the 15th so Adam Durm made his pitching debut. It was a high scoring game which also featured multiple players being thrown out at the plate by Jon Weaver. Misfits loaded the bases in the top of the final inning while trailing by two runs before Adam Durm picked up his second strike out of the night to slam the door and take home a 13-11 victory.
The final game on September 22nd was less interesting. Foul Balls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back while winning 14-1.
The fall tournament will begin on September 29th and is scheduled to continue over the next couple Thursdays after that. |

Foul Balls struggled to field a team once again on September 8th and didn't come out looking sharp against Fury.
Foul Balls did load the bases with the first three batters of the game, but only managed one run in the inning. Fury came out swinging in the bottom of the inning to grab a 7-1 lead. After that neither team did much, but Fury did a little bit more and managed to slowly stretch the lead and finally end the game one inning early by a score of 12-2.
The next game will be September 15th at 7:20 against Misfits on the big field. |

Foul Balls hadn't been involved in a shutout since 7/10/2018, but that changed on September 1st, 2022 as Foul Balls played two games which lasted a total of 7 innings. Foul Balls was shorthanded, but managed to find several subs and came out swinging against El Gato. They put up 5 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd, and 5 in the 3rd. Meanwhile El Gato's colletion of subs was unable to get anything going. Somehow those numbers added up to 15 in Rob's mind and the game ended after four innings with Foul Balls leading 14-0.
Foul Balls had to swap out 3 players for different subs in the second game against Life Church and it did not go well. Foul Balls couldn't get hits and Life Church smoked the ball. Foul Balls only sent 12 batters to the plate over three innings and Life Church pushed their 20th run across in the bottom of the 3rd with no outs to end the game.
Foul Balls will take on Fury at 6:20 on September 8th on the big field. |

Foul Balls and Whiskey Business closed out the August 25th slate on the small field.
Foul Balls got out to an early lead, but took a hit when Andy Hahn got hurt running the bases in the bottom of the first inning. Things progressed in typical small field fashion with both teams getting a run or two per inning and Foul Balls continued to lead throughout. Andy continued to play hurt and came up with a big two out hit off the wall to drive in two runs in the 4th inning. Foul Balls were able to stretch the lead to 11-4 after 5 and then hung on over the final two innings as Whiskey made a charge. Whiskey closed the score to 11-10 with runners on 2nd and 3rd before grounding out to end the game.
Rich Brown was 4-4 at the top of the lineup and made a spectacular play up the middle at second base. Mo Peterson was 3-3 with a walk and 4 RBIs right behind Rich.
Foul Balls is scheduled for a doubleheader on September 1st. The first game will be at 7:20 on the small field against El Gato and then they'll move to the big field against Life Church at 8:20. |

Surprisingly that headline is not an autocorrect based on a questionable call costing Foul Balls a game. Just one week after insulting the team's official beer, when Foul Balls and The Family took to the big field on August 18th Nancy was nowhere to be found.
The Family was forced to play about half the game with only 8 or 9 players. Foul Balls was unable to capitalize on that and managed to trail by 6 runs heading into the bottom of the 4th inning. Foul Balls managed to put together a two out rally and draw within one. At that point the bats cooled off for the Family and Foul Balls strung a bunch of hits together in the 6th inning and eventually won 16-13.
The next game is August 25th at 8:20 against Whiskey Business on the small field. |
